Ladder Rules
Participants at the start of the season will be placed on the ladder
according to their skill level. Skill level will be assessed through
whatever means is available including the players self evaluation
of his or her NTRP rating (National Tennis Rating Program, see NTRP
Self Rating Guide), input from the Pro, success in previous
match play, etc. These will be approximations to get play for the
season started.
Players will be arranged into groups of four and may challenge
anyone in their group.
Participants joining the ladder during the season will be placed
at their assessed skill level so as to make all matches as interesting
and challenging for both parties as is possible. This will be done
when the groups are being updated according to the matches played.
Once most of the matches have been played or one month has passed,
the results will be assessed and players moved up a group or down
a group, or left unchanged in the same group.
Each match will be a Pro set of 7. That is, the first one to seven,
leading by 2. A 12 point Tie Breaker to be played at 6-6.
2 Points will be awarded for each win and 1 point for a tie. Accumulated
points will be tracked.
In order to fit the matches into the club's 40 minute court booking
system the result will be determined by either: the score at completion
of the Pro set, or: if not completed by the time the 40 minute time
slot has expired, the score of completed games at the end of the
40 minute booking.
If there is no one waiting to enter the court the players may elect
to play out the rest of the pro set. Players should agree before
commencing the match whether they will complete the pro set if they
are not forced off the court or if they will stick to the time allocation
regardless. If subsequently forced off before completion of the
pro set, the score at the end of the time slot will prevail. Players
will need to synchronize their watches so they agree on the finish
time.
The final match scores are to be reported fairly by the match winners
to
gmtc@mail.germanmillstennis.com
and will be posted here on the web site so all ladder participants
may view the results. The coordinator will calculate the points
and adjust the groups at the end of each month, or earlier if all
matches have been played.
Scores are entered into the table as illustrated: (Player A won the match against
Player B by a score of 7-4. Player D won against Player A by a score
of 6-3 which was the score of completed games when the 40 minute
time slot expired).
